Burdened by the desire to produce workers who are qualified for the work of the harvest in the fields of the Lord, then since 1992 the Tribunal and the servant of the Lord Church of Christ Church of Mangga Besar (GKJMB) Jakarta, now Synod of the Church of Christ, has struggled with the possibilities to establish educational institutions theology to meet those needs.

GKJMB Assembly agreed to establish a School of Theology (STT). Step originally stems from the appointment of some members of the panel to consider the establishment of STT. Then GKJMB Assembly through the Agency for Studies servant of the Lord sent his servant of the Lord GKJMB to the USA for further studies to be prepared to be a core faculty team in STT.

Foundation board Assembly raised the number of 13 members. Governing is what started thinking about names STT, construction permit and others.

STT name Great Commission (STTAA) was passed in the Assembly Meeting GKJMB.
9 September 1996
Foundation of the Great Commission was formally established. Establishment STT Great Commission official.
August 28, 1997
In an Inauguration Day in GKJMB Rayon III Greenville Jakarta. The event also held the signing of the inscription by: Drs. January Kawatu (Bimas Protestant), Rev. DR. William Hodaviah Hosanna (Pastor GKJMB), Suhendro Hadiwijoyo (Council Chairman) and Lawrence Haryono (Chairman of the Foundation for the Great Commission). The campus is located in Greenville STTAA Block C 3 No. 1 in the land area of ??± 1000 m2.

Mr. Pastor. Poltak Siahaan, S.Th. as Director General Guidance Protestant Christians have been doing visitation in order STTAA accreditation process. STTAA now been registered with the decree of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia No. 36 Th. 2001.

Signed Memorandum of Understanding in the framework of cooperation between STT Great Commission by Southeast Asia Bible Seminary (TIME) Malang. WHEN parties fully support the management of the Great Commission STT. After walking 5 years from 10 years planned, both sides agree that the management has been able to be returned in full to STTAA. Then in August 2007, MoUs are terminated management.
After the first 10 years STTAA using a campus building at the complex Green Ville C3 / 1, West Jakarta, started in August 2007, coinciding with the start of the first semester of 2007-2008 school year STTAA occupy the new campus in Jalan Kedoya Raya No. 18, West Jakarta. On an area of ??5000 m2 which was purchased in 2005 stood two main buildings, namely building I (offices, classrooms, libraries, dormitories son) and II buildings (the dining room, manse, and the girls' dormitory).
STTAA is theological education institution which is interdenominational, because it STTAA accept students from a variety of Christian denominations. STTAA is a member of the Association of Theological Schools in Indonesia (PERSETIA) and Asia Theological Association (ATA). As an institution of theological education, STTAA has received recognition in the form of accreditation from the National Accreditation Board of Higher education (BAN-PT) for the program S.Th. and Asia Theological Association (ATA) for S.Th. program, M.Div., and M.Th. - Both are valid until 2019.
